Fit Tip

It”s a myth, fat cannot be converted into muscle. Fat and muscle are two different things. If you don’t change you’re eating habits or increase your calorie burn your only going to be layering that muscle under the fat. Therefore do not skip your cardio. Fitting cardio into your workout will help you burn calories and get rid of fat. To stay lean and build muscle you also must do weight training targeting your entire body. It may sound daunting but it’s really simple. You don’t need to spend hours everyday at the gym. Simply speaking fat takes up more space than muscle. And the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism will be. So make small changes and be consistent. You will see results.

Summer is Here Get Outside!!!

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Hey All,

Summer is here…bbq’s, vacations, hot temps, how do we stay motivated with all the distractions? The weather is great so get out of the gym, out of your rut and off the couch, there is so much to explore out there. Try swimming a few laps at the beach or pool. Run outside instead of on the treadmill, ride your bike instead of driving or taking a spin class. Get out enjoy the long days. It’s also a great opportunity to get a friend or the whole family involved in your plan to stay healthy. Play outdoors with the kids or your dog, join a softball team, shoot some hoops or just take an early evening stroll after work. Adding a few extra minutes per day onto your regular workout can really help take the pounds off so you can look hot sitting by the pool sipping a cool one.

making a plan

Hey Rockers,

Spring is upon us, are you ready?  how’s your health?  Are you happy with your body?  Are you making better choices when it comes to your health and fitness?

Well…..what are you waiting for? You’re not going to achieve your fitness goals by just sitting there. Here are some simple steps to get you rockin’

1.    Set Obtainable Goals: Make a list of immediate fitness goals.  Keep the goals small and attainable, e.g. buy a new pair of shoes to get motivated to run, or make an inspiring song list on your mp3 to exercise with.
2.    Make a Plan: Are you the type of person that needs an extra push from a personal trainer, group class, or simply a workout partner?  Then investigate the best choice for your budget.  Or are you the type of person who would rather workout in solitude?  Then get online and check out hiking/running trails.  Pressed for time, or want privacy, check out DVD’s or On Demand for great workouts you can do in the privacy of your own home.
3.    Finally, just rock it: The only thing left to do is rock.  There are no excuses because you’ve eliminated them in steps 1 and 2.  Congrats, you’re prepared and ready to go.  Start today, your body will thank you.

If that’s not enough to get you started then let us help, RockStar Fit offers private training, personal nutritional advice and $5 bootcamp classes!!!

Keep Rockin’

Get up LA

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

So people are always asking me how much exercise they should be doing, how many days a week and for how long?  Well peeps there is nothing magic about being healthy.  You just need to be active everyday.

Now before you freak out, remember that being active doesn’t mean that you need to be on the treadmill for an hour.  It just means you need to move.  Yeah, like get out and go for a walk around the neighborhood with your dog.  Go to the park and shoot some hoops with your kids, anything, just get up and go.

There are millions of things you can do and already do.  Did you know that a 150lb person can burn 270 calories just doing laundry and burn 222 calories raking the yard?  So all those chores that you loath can actually help you stay fit.  Now don’t forget that you need to get your heart rate up there to get the cardiovascular benefits and to really take the weight off,  but why not get started on your road to health with a little table tennis?  A 150lb person can burn 92 calories in just 20 minutes.  Now go out and have fun will ya.
